StripHTML v1.0
----------------
Why this program?
-----------------
If you are familiar with Internet, you'll know that the texts you view using
Netscape or Mosaic are created using HTML. This is the Hypertext Marking
Language. As long as you view them with the formentioned programs all is ok.
But as soon as you load them up in any word processor, text editor or text
viewer, you'll notice there is a lot of trash between the text.
This trash is meant to set text into different styles (bold, italics and
underlined). Using a word processor/text editor you can manualy remove these
HTML-commands, but that's a bit tedious...
Now there is StripHTML v1.0. With this program you can automatically strip
(i.e. remove) all the unwanted HTML-commands, so you'll end up with a pure
ASCII-text with nothing more than the text as it was before the HTML-
commands were added. Now you can print them right away from your favourite
word processor, or just crunch them for future use.
StripHTML removes ALL text that is placed between 'smaller than' and 'greater
than' ('<' and '>') characters. I know this a pretty dumb way to do the job,
perhaps the procedure will be more intelligent in a next version...
StripHTML will also remove those dumb PC-style line-feed attributes from
the text for free! :')
A word on HREFS
---------------
A lot of the texts on Internet contain so called HREFS, which are links to
other pages/pictures on the net. These are often very usefull to trace
links to interesting places you want to visit at a later day. The HREFS are
also placed between <> and would normally be deleted by StripHTML.
To prevent this from happening, I added the Kill HREFS-button. If this button
is inactive, the HREFS will be kept, else they will be deleted.
How do I use the program?
--------------------------
- Start StripHTML from your workbench or CLI.
You'll see two buttons with the text 'No File'. The left one is the source and the
right one is the destination. If you click on one of these buttons you will see
a file-requester appear. From the 'Source' button you can select the HTML-file
you want to strip, from the 'Destination' button you can enter the file to wich
the stripped tekst will be written.
The 'Strip' button will start the conversion from HTML to ASCII. With large documents
this can take a few moments. When the stripping is done, the 'File' buttons will
reset to the original ('No File') button titles. (Some room for improvement here!)
-------------------Serious Bit------------------------------------------------------
StripHTML v1.0 is FreeWare, wich means you don't have to pay any money for using it.
You're free to do with it whatever you want, as long as you keep this doc file and
the executeable intact...
Sorry for the strange layout I chose, but I wrote this program in a very short period.
Future improvement (maybe):
-DisplayBeep when conversion is done.
-Progress bar during conversion.
-Conversion of HTML to Amiga ANSII. ->that would be nice
-Print options???
-HTML viewer incorporation...? (mmm... that sounds nice...)

Check out 'Breakin' Briks', also available from Aminet! It's the first game I (with a little
help form my friends) made... (it's AGA and cool!)
